Food Ayka ("we", "our", "the App") is a free food ingredient scanner that analyzes ingredient lists for informational purposes only. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Food Ayka is an informational tool only and does NOT provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. All ingredient assessments, safety scores, allergen detections, and dietary compatibility results are generated automatically by a local database and algorithm. They may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. We accept NO responsibility or liability whatsoever for any decisions made based on the App's results, including but not limited to: allergic reactions, dietary violations, health issues, religious dietary breaches, pet illness or injury, or any other harm of any kind. Always read the actual product label carefully and consult a qualified healthcare professional, nutritionist, allergist, religious authority, or veterinarian before making dietary decisions. You use this App entirely at your own risk.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name via Firebase Authentication.
Dietary Profiles: Diet type, allergies, religious preferences, and pet profiles are stored locally on your device only.
Scan History: Stored locally on your device. We do not upload ingredient photos or scan results to any server.
Camera & Photos: Used solely to capture ingredient labels for on-device text recognition. Photos are processed locally and are never uploaded.
3. How We Process Data
All ingredient analysis happens entirely on your device using:
- Google ML Kit — on-device text recognition (OCR)
- Local ingredient database — 340+ E-codes, EFSA risk data, NOVA classification
- Open Food Facts API — ingredient normalization (no personal data sent)
No photos, scan results, or dietary profiles are sent to our servers or any third-party AI service.

All personal data is stored locally on your device. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information. We do not display advertisements or use tracking.
6. No Responsibility & Limitation of Liability
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- We are NOT responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any ingredient analysis, safety score, allergen detection, NOVA classification, or dietary compatibility assessment provided by the App.
- We are NOT responsible for any allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, health problems, dietary violations, religious dietary breaches, pet illness, pet injury, pet death, or any other harm of any kind resulting directly or indirectly from reliance on the App's results or recommendations.
- The App is NOT a substitute for reading the actual product label, consulting a qualified doctor, nutritionist, allergist, dietitian, religious authority, or veterinarian.
- OCR text recognition may misread, omit, or incorrectly interpret ingredient labels. The ingredient database may be incomplete, outdated, or contain errors. Scoring algorithms are approximations and may not reflect the latest scientific consensus.
- We have no affiliation with any food manufacturer, supermarket, brand, or product mentioned, displayed, or scanned within the App.
- We make no guarantee that any product identified as "safe" by the App is actually safe for you, your family, or your pet to consume.
- The user assumes all risk associated with the use of this App and its results.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your Rights
You can delete your account, clear scan history, and revoke permissions at any time. EU/EEA residents have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability.

We may update this policy. Changes are posted here with an updated date.
